2010 CHEVA Fall Choir Registration Form
Elijah A Youth Musical about the Power of Prayer This fall, CHEVA Children’s Chorale will be performing the musical called Elijah. This musical is a powerful combination of scripture and dramatic singing which portrays the inspiring story of Elijah in a whole new way. Not only is the music fantastic, but the message is powerful and I know it will enrich the lives of the kids who participate. Most of the work in this musical happens in the choir. The choir is a big part of the whole production. The choir has a lot of singing, so we need lots of willing young people to join forces and build a strong choir together. Boys and girls welcome. Ages will range from 5 to 18. There are only five large characters, or solo parts, in Elijah (although more may be added depending on who is interested in a solo): Storyteller – This is the largest and most challenging part. It will take someone who has a strong singing voice and good acting skills. It would also be best if this person can read music or has parents who can help him/her work on the part at home. Elijah – The second largest role. Elijah sings a lot and has to be very dramatic. Can be played by a boy or a girl. Jezebel – Small solo part but very dramatic Solo-Wings of an Eagle – This is a solo song and it is a lovely song. Elisha – Some solo singing and acting If your child would like to participate in the choir, there is no audition required. Simply fill in the choir form and send it to Chelsea by July 1st. If he or she would like to try out for a character role, we will hold an informal audition on the night of the CHEVA Talent Show (June 11th) as soon as the show is over. It will be held at Valley Christian Church located at 432 E Pleasant in Tulare. The child will need to sing a short song (or part of a song) of his/her choice. Pick a song he or she can be dramatic with while singing. Please also fill in the choir form and bring it to the audition. Rehearsals: Elijah rehearsals will be held weekly and will be similar to the regular choir semester. The whole choir (including the character parts) will meet on Wednesday mornings from 10am to noon. Those who have one of the character roles will need to come to a second weekly rehearsal which will be a coaching session at Chelsea’s home in Exeter on Friday mornings from 10am to noon.
